New Year Pilates, Nutrition & Lifestyle Retreat with Emma Peters and Friends from £360 until 30th July

WHAT TO EXPECT

A positive and welcoming start to the New Year awaits you on this relaxing and sociable weekend in the South Downs.  Whether you are brand new to Pilates or are happily enjoying Foundation or Improver Level classes at a pace to suit your body, this weekend will accommodate you. We’ll make the most of this beautiful country house with Pilates classes over the 3 days, plus Bedtime Meditation Sessions and a Deep Stretch session on Sunday. With small balls, bands and blocks we’ll provide the equipment you’ll need.  In addition we have Nutrition and Physiotherapy workshops to help you find and stick to a better lifestyle looking at what you eat and how you move.  There are a maximum of 11 places available and we’re offering an ‘Early Bird discount’ so please don’t delay!
You’ll find wholesome, detoxifying healthy meals; guiding experts in health and exercise; warming open fires and big, relaxing sofas plus stunning views of the garden and Downs beyond. Meals are all cooked in the kitchen by our expert chef who will create wholesome, organic dishes from local sources (vegetarian and fish choices).
There’ll be opportunities for exploring the great outdoors one afternoon on a ‘wildlife walk’ and a chance to visit nearby Charlston House (at a reduced price), home to the famous and shameless ‘Bloomsbury Set’. Alternatively you might grab the chance to bring your bike and explore the countryside ‘freestyle’ for an hour or two with the help of a local map.

PILATES

New Year is a great time to re-evaluate your mind and body. We don’t need scientists to tell us just how strong a bond there is between what we do and how we feel – it’s obvious! But if you aren’t happy with how you look or feel, it’s the perfect time to make some physical changes to help promote a calmer mind. On this detoxifying (yet fun) weekend you’ll experience the Eight Principles of Pilates. We’ll explore the first 12 Foundation Exercises and gain a sense of alignment and improved posture. You’ll strengthen your deeper, core muscles while releasing tension held in tight areas and so rebalance your body.  My flow palates style together with soothing music that helps you to connect with your body will leave you feeling well-worked yet relaxed.  Sessions are suitable for all levels provided you can move fairly freely. Anyone with specific back or neck issues should contact me to discuss before booking.
I (Emma) have been teaching Pilates since 2009, after having three babies and experiencing searing back pain from a herniated disc. Previously a Helicopter Traffic Reporter and Magazine Editor, I came to Pilates twenty years ago and have been practising and enjoying the benefits ever since. Pilates is a wonderful exercise regime to adopt at any age and brings benefits men and women of all ages and fitness levels.

Leading Physiotherapist Matthew Maher, of 4FrontPhysiotherapy, will present a talk on “Get More from your Movement.”  He will address the lesser known interactions between different parts of the body and how to work with common inhibiting conditions.
